The Einstein Complex
In the summer of 1939, physicist Leo Szilárd approached Einstein with concerns about the rapid developments in nuclear technology. Einstein was convinced that immediate action needed to be taken by the government to stop the threat of the expanding Nazi Empire from being the first ones to develop atomic bombs. The result is one of the most famous letters in physics, from Einstein to then-president Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This piece is a setting of fragments from this letter. I chose this text because I was captured by its simplicity and sense of urgency. A score video with a recording is here if you’d like to listen and follow along.
The piece was recently published through See-A-Dot Music Publishing. For details about score purchases and rehearsal tracks, please go this page. The published score is for six-part mixed chorus, however there are four-part and eight-part versions available. If you would like to perform one of these versions, please contact me..

Now We Are Dinosaurs
I wrote this piece in January of 2017. At the time I was attending Oberlin Conservatory (I later transferred to CalArts), and I remember feeling a general malaise and lack of interest in anything. Like many people on campus, I was creatively stifled by the horrifying social and political reality of the world that was about to materialize. This piece was my way of making sense of what was going on. I took a poem written by my mother and set it for a small chamber ensemble.
You can view a perusal score here.
Gegenschein
This is a piece for amplified cello I wrote in December of 2014 as part of The Walden School’s regional concert program. The piece was premiered by Wild Rumpus’s cellist Joanne de Mars.

Once Upon…
I have always loved fairy tales. One day, when I was sitting bored in my room, I decided it would be fun to try and write a fairy tale-themed piece. This is the result. Since this is a fixed-media piece, there is no score. Enjoy!
Etudes
These are two pieces I wrote while I was studying at Oberlin. I was experimenting with old analog synthesizers and theremins while also intensely studying Baroque and Classical forms. There is no score for either of these pieces, since they are both fixed-media. Enjoy!
